Why I Love Photographing Estate on The Halifax Weddings Here
After photographing weddings all over Florida, Estate on the Halifax remains one of my favorite venues because there are endless opportunities for creative portraits.
Some of my favorite photo locations include:
- The beautiful historic chapel
- Moss-covered oak trees
- The vintage train tracks and train car
- The peaceful gardens and walking paths
- The waterfront views
- The charming cottages
- The rustic Tavern reception space
- Golden hour throughout the property
Unlike many venues where you end up reusing the same backgrounds, Estate on the Halifax offers enough variety that every wedding gallery feels unique.
The Historic Chapel
One of the biggest highlights is the venue’s historic chapel.
Originally built in 1897, the chapel features beautiful stained-glass windows, original woodwork, curved pews, and a bell tower that rings after the ceremony. It creates an intimate atmosphere while offering gorgeous natural light for photography.
Whether you’re planning a traditional ceremony or something more intimate, it’s one of the most charming chapels you’ll find in Central Florida.
Outdoor Ceremonies
If outdoor weddings are more your style, the Estate also features a stunning gazebo overlooking the gardens and water.
The ceremony space is shaded by massive oak trees, making it comfortable for guests while providing soft, flattering light for photos.
Florida sunsets here can be absolutely incredible.
The Reception Space
The Estate’s Tavern gives couples the perfect mix of rustic elegance and historic charm.
The space comfortably accommodates larger celebrations while still feeling warm and inviting. Since everything is located on the same property, guests can easily move from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception without traveling between locations. The venue can accommodate celebrations of up to around 200 guests depending on the space used.
Best Photo Opportunities
One thing I always tell couples is to leave at least 20–30 minutes around sunset for portraits.
Some of my favorite images I’ve captured here include:
- Romantic portraits beneath the giant oak trees
- First looks in the gardens
- Wedding party photos by the train tracks
- Golden hour portraits near the waterfront
- Night portraits with dramatic lighting
- Reception candids inside the Tavern
- Chapel exits beneath the historic bell tower
Every season offers something different, making it a venue you never get tired of photographing.

Planning Your Estate on the Halifax Wedding
If you’re considering getting married here, I recommend scheduling a venue tour as early as possible. Walking the property in person really helps you appreciate everything it has to offer.
When planning your timeline, I always recommend:
- Scheduling your ceremony a couple of hours before sunset.
- Allowing time for a private first look if you want additional portraits.
- Saving at least 20–30 minutes during golden hour for couple photos.
- Planning a few nighttime portraits after the reception begins for something truly dramatic.
Those small timeline decisions can make a huge difference in your final wedding gallery.
